WHO WE ARE

Our vessel :
East of The Lizard is a 42 foot (12.2 m)
Duncanson sloop built in
Port Adelaide in 1985.

Constructed of solid 3-ply cedar plank sheathed in fibreglass she is a solid,
dependable vessel that sleeps 7 comfortably.

She has been a Sydney to Hobart competitor and extensive offshore racer, has been a charter and training vessel in Queensland, has spent the past 15 years cruising at Port Vincent SA and has now returned to her birthplace.

She has even been in a Bollywood film production (Love story 2050).
She has been extensively upgraded to provide a sound platform for
Ecosail Training and Cruising’s operations.

Our People :
John Edwards is the Principal of
Ecosail Training and Cruising
and has been sailing big boats for over 30 years.

He is a commercially endorsed Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Yachtmaster Offshore and RYA Cruising Instructor. He also is a qualified Coxswain.

With a background as a university academic he is also a highly experienced teacher. John has delivered yachts between Hobart,

Melbourne and Adelaide and raced in the 2011 Fastnet Race, the UK equivalent of the Sydney to Hobart.




Our People :
Stephen Thomas is a coxswain with a
professional interest in occupational health and safety systems.

He is a Coastguard volunteer, commanding rescue vessels in the
Gulf waters of South Australia.

Rod Hunter has extensive experience as a technical and trades teacher
and has been sailing forever.

He has raced in several Sydney to Hobarts, notably the disastrous 1998 race
and is a passionate cruising sailor spending a lot of time aboard his Swarbrick 40 TRINACRIA.

He is acommercially endorsed Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Yachtmaster Offshore and RYA Cruising Instructor.
